Mistral sent her to Holland where she raced in a grueling 135 mile race over 5 days. She lead the womens race from start to finish. What to Take Paddling – My Gear Kit

by Scott Baste | Oct 10, 2014 | tips With just a little preparation, you can be ready for many of the common issues that might arise out on the water. Every time I go paddling, I wear this kit of a few key items — all of which are available at PADDLE! the Florida Keys. Over the years, it has carried me through some sketchy situations. I use the Onyx Inflatable PFD. Many paddlers will take a bulky lifejacket and clip it to the front of the board, but in a situation where it’s needed, it’s no good to you there. An inflatable is the best choice for me. I like the Onyx in particular because of its wraparound fit, and the belt also serves to hold the rest of the kit. Next I clip on the NRS titanium co-pilot knife. This was my…

Team PADDLE! racer Seychelle Hattingh bests field in 6 mile course at Miami Paddle Challenge

by Scott Baste | Sep 15, 2014 | races & events We got up early for the trek to Miami for the Miami Paddle Challenge. Seychelle has been training hard after her return from her Peru trip and the high altitude training really paid off. She positioned herself perfectly at the start and caught a few drafts until there wasn’t anyone else left to pass then she settled in for the rest of the journey to cross the finish line ahead of all the other paddleboarders. There was quite a commotion around her after the race. She is definitly a very strong paddler and will be coming up through the ranks quickly and laying out some impressive victories.

Great writeup in Keys Free Press about our recent Florida Bay Crossing

by Scott Baste | Aug 28, 2014 | Uncategorized We had a great adventure back in May. One evening, Seychelle told me that she and Joe were planning to go to Flamingo tomorrow and asked me where they should start from. After looking at the weather, the winds looked perfect for a Florida Bay Crossing leaving out right here from PADDLE the Florida Keys, and furthermore I wanted to join them. We met at 5:30 am to begin our adventure. 25+ tailwinds made our journey very delightful. We surfed for 18 miles! Lots of fun waves to catch through Florida Bay. We stopped for lunch at End Key and then made our way towards the Shark Point Chickee which is an elevated camping site constructed by the National Park. We hung out there for an hour and then completed the journey. Total mileage 28 mi….
